Should I Record in 44.1kHz or 96kHz?

How Should I Record?

The question I am most asked concerning the studio is, what’s the difference between recording in 24/44.1kHz and 24/96kHz? The high resolution of 24/96kHz captures more information in the highs, mids and low frequency ranges.

This enables you to hear sounds that aren’t recorded in 24/44.1kHz. But you also need to have the top of the line converters to be able to hear and record this difference. We have found that Radar converters give us the best sound for our ears. When you output back to 16/44.1kHz you still have more information in the final product since it was recorded in 24/96kHz.Allowing you to hear more of the tonal qualities and the different frequencies in the music. Giving you a higher quality CD.

“The Doors” Documentary

Woody

Woody

We just spent the day working with Woody Harrelson doing the narration for the documentary movie “The Doors”. The movie is based on how the band got started playing music together, the ups & downs of the 1960’s drug culture and the fame that came their way so quickly. The band endured such pressure on there lives and it ended in total tragedy with the death of Jim Morrison and the breaking up of “The Doors”. For those of us who lived through this era, this is going to be a great movie.

Woody, it’s been fun! Keep playing your piano, and we’ll jam together again.

Maui giant surf footage “Jaws”

Maui, Hawaii Jan. 10, 2004.  We experienced some of the largest surf ever seen at Jaws, beginning early in the morning and continuing all throughout the day.  We filmed surfers in  barrels up to 35 feet in diameter for over 6 hours, using a Sony DXC 35 camera and a Canon 1000 millimeter broadcast lens.  We will be posting more clips on our website in the near future.  Keep checking back.

Recording Studio Solar Benefits

Solar Panel

Solar Panel

Hey! These solar panels are really paying off. We’ve not only saved the burning of fossil fuel, adding less CO2 into our atmosphere…But our electric bill has only been the service fee these past two months of $18.29. Thank God for the ability to capture the power from the sun on this beautiful island of Maui.
